3 Simple Homemade Body Scrub Recipes You Can Make, With Things You Have In Your Kitchenb

by Maui Mobile Spa on 07/02/19

As we age, our skin's natural ability to produce new cells slows down dramatically. This is called our Cell Turn Over Rate. These new skin cells travel from the lowest layer of the epidermis (stratum basale) to the top layer, die and are shed off to reveal healthier, younger, ‘glowing’ skin.

Body scrubs are designed to help slough off (shed) those top layers of dead skin, while leaving your skin glowing and  moisturized! Vigorous scrubbing of the body also accelerate detoxification and metabolism.

At Maui Mobile Spa we recommend our clients scrub the entire body every 5-10 days, depending on skin type and the body scrub used.Exfoliating during changes of season as the temperatures/climate fluctuates, is critical to maintaining smooth and hydrated skin.

Body scrubs are best used during your shower. We suggest cleansing with soap in the shower...then turn off the water. Scrub the body vigorously for 2-5 minutes, then rinse clean with cool or warm water. A final rinse of cool to cold water will accelerate the metabolism and detoxification process. No need to moisturize after your body scrub! The oils in the scrub will leave your skin moisturized and glowing!

Here are a few easy to make body scrubs, with things you may  already have in your kitchen!

Body Scrub #1- Relaxing Lavender
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 Cup Fine Salt
- 1 Cup Fine White Sugar
- 1/3 Cup Oil (best to use grape seed, almond, sunflower, sesame or jojoba)
- 10-20 drops of lavender essential oil
DIRECTIONS:
- Mix together all ingredients with a wire whisk, until fully blended.
- Store in a glass or plastic jar, in a cool, dry place.

Body Scrub #2 - Antioxidant Coffee
INGREDIENTS:
- 3/4 Cup Fine Salt
- 1 Cup Fine Brown Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Super Fine (ground) Coffee. The more you can grind it to a powder, the better, like Turkish Coffee grinds.
- 1/3 Cup Oil (best to use grape seed, almond, sunflower, sesame or jojoba)
DIRECTIONS:
- Mix together all ingredients with a wire whisk, until fully blended.
- Store in a glass or plastic jar, in a cool, dry place.

Body Scrub #3 - Moisturizing Honey
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 Cup Fine Salt
- 1 Cup Fine Brown Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Honey
- 1/4 Cup Oil (best to use grapeseed, almond, sunflower, sesame or jojoba)
DIRECTIONS:
- Mix together all ingredients except honey, with a wire whisk, until fully blended. Add honey in after other ingredients are mixed. Use a wire whisk to fully blend, until you have one mixture.
- Store in a glass or plastic jar, in a cool, dry place.
